Until Death Do You Vow Ch8
(Warnings: Mentioning of Elias's illness and abusive family situation. Mentioning of Ian cheating. Some innuendos.) "A bedroom?" But not the same one you woke up in. Their was a rather large bed inside and it looked perfectly made. Fluffy big pillows sat on top of silk sheets and next to the bed was a small bedside table, one or two paintings on the walls...It had a little bit less furniture than the room you were in but it looked more..sad?  "It's emptier but it looks like the same one I was on otherwise." "I'm actually not surprised. There was seven kids and two parents so it wouldn't be too out of the ordinary for them all to look the same. Can you tell who's bedroom it is?"  Your eyes looked around the place. Silence other than the rain pounding against the roof with the occasional thunder. There wasn't any proraits so there wasn't much to tell. "I'm.. actually not sure but maybe it's Elias's? It's in pretty good shape compared to the rest of the second floor. If that's the case, maybe there's some clues in here." "Take a look around and be careful." If this truly was Elias's room then maybe there was some clues around here. Maybe something that could give a clue about the curse? Or maybe a clue to the missing fortune? If not those then maybe the missing recipe book Elias was looking for. That'd be one problem solved at least. You carefully lifted up both pillows and then looked under the mattress before kneeling down to look under the bed itself. Nothing. And there wasn't anything on the table other than an old lamp. Lightning lit up the room and your eyes were drawn to a vanity complete with a large mirror. Maybe there's something there that? You got back up careful to not trip on your long veil and made your way over it. A small rectangle object catching your eye.  "Hey. There's an ornate box on the vanity. It's gotta have something important right?" "Be careful. That thing might be spring loaded with some kinda trap!"  You deadpanned. "I doubt that." Despite that you slowly reached out to grab the lid, and lifted it up just enough to slide it off before putting it aside and looking it just as another lightning strike lit up the room and letting you see the inside of the box....You blinked before your brows furrowed. "Broken glass?" "... What?" Your hand reached inside to grab the first large shard on top of the small pile, and brought it up to your face. A piece of your make up face peered back to you and you again pushed back the front of your veil to look at it better. ".... It's just a pile of broken..glass? No. It looks too reflective to be glass." "Didn't you mention earlier that Elias had a broken mirror?" Oh yeah that's right. Guess this was his room then. "Why waste a nice box on something like that though?" Instead of answering you just gently put the shard back into the box before placing the lid back on top of it. If this really belonged to Elias's grandmother, then it must've been very sentimental to him and you were better off leaving it alone. A quick look around the vanity didn't show anything else of interest but your eye DID catch something of interest reflected in the mirror behind you. Another bookshelf on the wall by the bed. Your head turned before you walked over to it. Maybe that's where he left the book you needed? "Found another bookshelf. Gonna check it out." Taylor didn't say anything but you raised a hand to skim along the book spines and raising a brow reading all the titles. "It seems to be all fiction. Jane Eyre. Persuasion. Sentimental Education. Portrait of A Lady." You listed off a few names as you skimmed along. Doesn't look like any recipe books. Taylor still didn't say anything but you heard the distant clicking of a key board.. before Taylor started laughing again making you raise a brow. "What's so funny?" "Those are all romance novels." Romance novels? A quick scan of the rest of the shelf showed you that...Yes. All these books were romance novels. No recipe books at all. You pulled out a random book to look at it in your hands. The spine looked worn outside of regular aging as if it had been read over and over. Makes sense if Elias had been stuck here for most of his life without anything else to do but read the same books over and over day by day. "Poor Elias. Not only did he not have any love from his family, but it looked like he didn't have other love either romantic or platonic. Only a fantasy world and books to live by." "Don't feel too bad for him. We can't change his life no matter how sad it was besides it's over." You paused before scowling hard at nothing. "That's pretty heartless, Taylor! Even for you!" Your angry tone seemed to have caught him off guard. "The least I could do is give him some closure. He just seems lonely." "Don't fall for his act-" "THERE'S NO ACT!!" Your angry voice became angrier, fingers gripping the book so hard to turn your knuckles white under the gloves. "Ian was an act! But I was too dumb to see it and too dumb to realize that I was being played! Elias might be a little hasty and move things along a bit fast, but he's never once tried to make me do anything I don't want or rude at all! Besides if he really wanted to do something, he would've done it already by now!" "I- But he didn't even break the pact after he found out it was all an accident! What if he's evil-" "Taylor!," you cut him off. "I appreciate your concern and I care about you a lot, but accusing Elias of something like that, especially considering how he died, is just so wrong! You're being paranoid. Besides if I was in any danger I would've asked you to come save me by now." There was a moment of long silence as you continued to scowl before Taylor sighed. "I-... Y-Y-You're right. I'm sorry " ...You also sighed allowing your grip to relax. "It's alright, but just don't be so mean about his life. Ok? He's had enough to deal with." "Right. ...Any luck finding anything?", he asked changing the subject.  "No. Nothing that'd be helpful to us. Not even that darn book." "Y/n." You jumped up nearly dropping the book in your hands before you turned around and came face to face with Elias in the doorway. You both stared at each other before he gave a confused look. "What are you doing in here, Dearest?" You held up the book in your hands. "I couldn't find your book in the study, so I looked anywhere else I saw books." You shrugged gesturing to the door. "The door was open and I saw all the books on the shelf here. Couldn't find that book. Although you seem to have a very specific taste Mr. Elias Gallagher." You teased him as he looked taken aback as you held up the book with a smile. "I didn't expect you to be into romance so much." But it did kinda make sense. He stared.. before his face lit up a deeper blue? Wait. Could ghosts even blush? "I-I read it for the plot! It's actually quite good!" "Oh really? Let's see." You smiled wider at his flustered panic as you opened up the book. Taylor started snickering in your earpiece. Guess he liked watching someone else get teased by their literature. Stopping at one page with the corner folded down like a bookmark, you began reading. "Our clothes long gon-" "Dearest!," he squealed out. Hands coming up to cover his face and turn away in embarrassment as you giggled at his cute reaction. Taylor practically dying of laughter on the other end. "G-Good heavens." You still chuckled before closing the book. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to embarrass you, but you do look cute all flustered." He whined more and the dark blue spread to his ears and neck..or what part of his neck was attached to his floating head. "Besides, you're not the only guy I know who likes this kind of writing." "HEY!!," Taylor shouted at your blatant call out. "Here. I'll put it back and we can pretend it never happened. Ok?" He nodded as you slid the book back into place. Smiling as Elias peeked his eyes at you between his fingers. "There. Now what are you doing here anyways?" "Ah. Y-Yes." He cleared his throat and straightened back up trying to compose himself. "I-I managed to find my grandmother's recipes and have already s-started on t-the cake. I just wished to come let you know." You looked up surprised. "Already?" He nodded and you felt a little pale. "Wow. You sure.. D-Don't waste time." He nodded. "Yes. Soon everything will be ready and since you'll be marrying into my prestigious family, you'll be gifted with my family jewels."  Taylor again busted out laughing again but you were shocked to comprehend it. "Jewels? Elias, you don't have to do anything like that. I'm fine with just the ring I'm wearing-" "The rings that were presented to you by a snake that didn't even have the heart to face you before your wedding day." He spoke and sighed when you looked down. "I'm sorry. They're beautiful rings. I'm lucky to have been given such a lovely piece from you." He gazed at his own hand where the matching ring to yours still rested on his finger. "However, I would like to present to you something a bit less stained with harsh memories of your past. Consider it my wedding gift to you." "I.." he was seriously offering to GIVE YOU THE FORTUNE?! So that does mean it really existed and it was somewhere around the mansion. And Elias knew EXACTLY where it was. You could solve a whole ancient mystery just by taking him up on the offer. After all that's one of the things you and Taylor was trying to figure out after all but-"That's really nice." You held up your hands. "But I'm serious. You don't have to give me anything especially something that meant so much to your family. Id be just as happy if you gave me a book you loved or something else." "You'll be a part of my family after the ceremony," he pointed out making you pause. "Oh. Uh...R-Right.. H-how much longer fo you have to take on the preparations?" He hummed again and calculated in his head. "Not too long now. Maybe another twenty to thirty minutes as the cake bakes." "Oh. Well why don't you go finish that and I'll wait here for you?" He blinked as you groaned and turned, moving the long veil out of the way to sit comfortably on the bed before you reached down to rub your ankles. "No offense but these shoes are KILLING me! I've been running around in them all night and after a while they start to hurt. I could use a break for a while. I can just wait here and read a book while you finish up." Elias thought about it for a moment before nodding. "Yes. Of course. You should have a moment to relax before the ceremony. After all you've already been helping me so much it's only fair to you. I shall come fetch you as soon as everything else is ready. Will you be ok by yourself?" "You said it'd take half an hour right? I can wait that long by myself." And you truly won't be alone with Taylor on the line.  He nodded. "Very well then. Please be careful if you choose to wonder about." "I'll only be in here or the study if I want something to read. Don't worry. I won't go far." Elias nodded happily before bowing and then disappearing through the floor. You waited a full minute in case Elias came back before sighing and reaching down to remove your heels, breathing a sigh of relief as you could finally get a break from them AND walking around for once after what must've been a hours now. You rubbed the sore flesh hissing through your teeth. Taylor also remained silent for a moment probably waiting to hear if anything else was there besides you wincing in soreness. "Is he gone?," Taylor asked after a moment of silence. "Yeah. But he'll be back soon." "Right. How are you feeling?" "My feet are killing me but other than that good physically. I'm more mentally exhausted than anything else." "Maybe we should go through everything we know before he does come back." "Good idea. Where to start?" You allowed your feet to rest a moment before leaning back up. "What about those visions you've been having?" Taylor suggested with a hum. "I think we can rule out other ghosts actually. Elias would've mentioned other ghosts present and we would've seen them by now.  So what do you make of them?" "I'm pretty sure that's all they are. Visions of Elias's past life. You mentioned that I'm most likely getting them because of the magical pact we're currently in, so that's probably why I'm having them in the first place." "You've had three so far right? Any clues to where the fortune is or what might've caused the curse?" You shook your head before sighing. "No. Nothing but how awful his family was to him and how vicious Violet was..but I think I saw Violet wearing a pretty expensive necklace. Elias came from money so maybe that was a gift from him to her?" Taylor hummed. "Makes sense but that doesn't really stand out as a clue." "I really think I've only been really scared of the visions because I'm feeling exactly what Elias felt during that time otherwise I'd just feel really, really bad about everything I've watched." "Are you sure you're ok?" "Relax. I've seen the embodiment of death and I'm not going to back down. You've known me forever and just trust me."Taylor sighed but didn't argue further. "Violet's gotta be the key to this somehow or at least a big part of it since she's the one who did Elias in with her brother." "Did you find anything else when you were looking around?" "Other than that weird ledger message? Not a darn thing. I couldn't even find a simple recipe book!" "Ok. Ok. At least we'll be able to solve one part of the mystery. Elias is willing to show you where the jewels are which means he must know where they're hidden at. So at least we can cross that off the bucket list." "Yeah but I don't want his jewelry, Taylor! I don't think I want to get married at all! At least not like this. I'm only going along because it's the only way I can think of to get out of this mess." You mumbled reaching out to just pick up the flowers again. Staring at them and reaching out to nudge the orange and white petals. "....But Elias had been nothing but courteous this entire time. Way more understanding and willing to listen than I am ever was." "Don't tell me you're actually falling for him! I'm still convinced he's using this pact to make you feel something for him. Look. Honestly and I really mean it this time, I want you to leave that place. Something wrong is going on. Nothing we read mentioned this would happen!" "Well what WERE we expecting? I was expecting nothing to happen and then we'd just be crashing at my place eating pizza again when something, but isn't this what we wanted? For three years we've been talking about what we'd do if this did happen. Y'know getting evidence and helping the spirit move on?," you pointed out raising a brow. "To bring them closure and help them finish their unfinished business?" "Please! We don't know what he's capable of," Taylor pleaded in a much softer voice, "And I don't want you falling for any of his tricks." "He hasn't tried anything Taylor. Besides even if I DID just walk out, I still have this whole pact thing. Remember? The worst that happens is that I'm haunted by him for the rest of my life and maybe afterlife." "THAT'S EVEN WORSE!!" You groaned rubbing your temples. "Look. The best chance I got is bringing him closure by letting him have the ceremony he's never gotten. You don't have any better ideas." "Maybe if we can find out about the curse more then we can use that to bring him closure about his death without a ceremony. Are you sure there's nothing else we missed? Did you even look around his room enough?" "Taylor! There's nothing in here besides a book collection and a box of filled with a broken mirror-" You paused. Full stop. Eyes wide open and staring at the bookcase in front of you. "....A box..." "Filled with his broken mirror yeah. I think you said his grandmother owned?" "..A box of broken mirror shards." "I just said that." "Taylor, isn't it bad luck to break a mirror?!" The realization struck you harder than a freight truck. "Um. Yeah. That's what they say at least," Taylor hummed in thought. "They say breaking a mirror is seven years of bad luck although we haven't tried out that supernatural myth yet...And I'm not sure if I want to actually." F/c eyes snapped back to the box. "Would that bad luck be powerful enough to cause a lot of family deaths?" There was a pause on the other side as Taylor took in what you said. "...Are you saying what I think you're trying to say?" "I'm saying what if that curse was brought on them by the breaking of a VERY important family mirror?" Again Taylor paused in a long moment of thought. "You just might have something there! And one of your visions was of Elias talking about the mirror right? There's gotta be some kinda connection." "If there is I don't know what can be done. Elias will be back to gift me jewelry and then he's gonna want me to go along with the ceremony-"  BEEP!! A loud beep in your ear signalled something that made you pause, blink, and then reach around to look at your phone. Turning it on revealed to you something that made your face go pale. The battery was nearly drained and would be dead any moment. "....Uh oh. My phone's nearly dead." "WHAT?!" Taylor screamed in your ear making you wince. "YOU DIDN'T THINK TO BRING A PORTABLE CHARGER?!" "I didn't think I'd be here that long remember?!" Taylor made a half groan half growl sound in annoyance. "The. I'm coming in!" You now paused. "What?! Taylor, wait! I-" "I'm not gonna leave you in there by yourself! I'm responsible for that much! Stall for time! I'll see you soon! Over and out!" "Taylor!!" You paused as the line went out. Another beep called out. And when you looked at your phone the battery cut out. Dead. Now the dread really sunk in.

Until Death Do You Vow Ch7
(Warnings: Ian cheats on both reader and Mc from SWWSDJ during a flashback. Reader gets jump scared by Violet again. Some innuendos. Mentioning of blood. Some abuse, Elias's illness, name calling, and such in the flashbacks with Elias's family. Mentions of death and murder.) Church bells chimed in the morning. Flowers. Soft petals. Meant for their beauty to symbolize the beauty of the bride. Organ music. To match in chimes of the steps of the bride walking down the aisle. An audience to shed tears of happiness for many happy moments to come from this union. Smiles shown at one another in the joys of the moment. A breath to fill your lungs trying not to cry as you smiled up at the man in front of you. The one you were going to marry and have a life with after you both finally graduated. But this moment couldn't wait. This magical moment after a year. Some say it was fast but you supposed it was called love at first sight for a reason. Or at least it was supposed to be. A wedding was nothing if a groom never showed up for his bride leaving her humiliated by the alter and missing the wedding entirely. Only to show up after everyone decided to call it quits and leave for the night. Waiting for you with baited breath and a guilty look on his face. He wasn't even wearing a tuxedo. But better late than never. "Ian! There you are! Where have you been? Y'know what? Nevermind! The priest is still here. We can go inside and still elope even if everyone left already!" Smiles turned to him exceedingly and in joy- "I-...I-I can't." Reality shattered. Gasps wracked around. Silence fell. Your eyes blinked at his guilty face. "I-...What?" "I'm sorry, Y/n." His hands released yours as he looked down. "But I can't go through with this! I-... I've been having an affair with you behind someone else's back. Someone whom knows and left me a year ago." More gasps were had. A bouquet of flowers dropped from your hands to your feet. Time seemed to slow before completely freezing. "W-What?!" "I really did try to make this work! I thought if I forced myself to invest time with you I'd forget all about them but I couldn't and I still don't. I still love them!" Your world shattered as humiliation, guilt, regret, anger all swirled about behind shock which was the strongest emotion. Keeping you from saying anything as Ian without looking up at you took off his ring and without saying anything pushed it back into your palms. "Here. Take this. You can sell it to get some money. I-It's the least you deserve after what I put you and them through. I'm-... I'm sorry, Y/n. I really am." He then left the bride standing there. Nothing but white on her body. Tears on her cheeks. And crushed flowers at her feet. No one but her lonely self for comfort in the moonlight so late at night. "Y/n? Y/N!! Are you there?! Hey! Answer me, Bud! Hello? Say anything! Yell at me if you have too!" "Dearest! My darling, are you alright!" Heavy. Your body felt so heavy and yet so light at the same time. Gone was the hazy light that hurt your eyes and back was the darkness. Your eyes slowly fluttered and opened up to the dark world- only to jump wide awake as a flash of lightning crashed across the sky and lit up the ghost that was cradling your body in his arms and looked absolutely worried. Around you was still dark and night. Still raining hearing all the beats against the green house glass. Your eyes blinked up at the ceiling in shock before Elias sighed in relief. "Oh thank you're alright. I thought the worst when you fell to the floor." You blinked again before you groaned and reached up to sit up. "What happened?" "Here. Let me help you." You were literally hoisted to your slightly wobbling legs by Elias as you reached up to hold your head. "Are you alright? You collapsed to the floor." "Yeah. I'm good. I just need a moment." Shaking your head you took a moment before looking at Elias who looked especially frazzled. "Are you alright? You were freaking out back there." "Yes. I-.. I-Im fine. Pardon me for worrying you. I just..Need a moment of privacy." He quickly changed the subject turning away from you and just picking up the vase. "I should really d-do the decor since you've already decided on the interior and my grandmother's recipes are still amiss." "Oh...Why don't I look around and see if I can try and find them since you're gonna be busy decorating?" You offered reaching down to pluck up the flowers you dropped. "It would make things go a little faster." "I .. wouldn't want to bother you." "It's not a bother. I'd like to help you." "...*sigh* Very well then. But I ask you remain close by in case something comes up." You nodded. "Deal. And don't worry about it. If I find it I'll come back and find you. You go take a moment to lie down and get better." Elias only nodded before turning and leaving you in the greenhouse, pushing the vase in his arms out while the rest of him phased through the doors. You watched him go before you sighed and reached up a hand to rub at your forehead. What the heck just happened? "Is he gone?",  Taylor's voice once again rang out loud, and your eyes flickered back over towards the door waiting a few minutes before humming ok. "Good. Now who was that woman?" Your eyes lit up in surprise. "Wait. You saw her too?!" "I heard another voice through all the static. A woman I think?? Didn't recognize her and it certainly wasn't you." "Well you're not gonna believe this but I'm pretty sure I just met Violet Dupont." "WHAT?!,'' he shrieked out as you expected. "That's insane! Is her spirit there too?! Are you ok?!" "I'm fine. And no. She's not here..It was more like flashbacks or visions or something like in movies." "*Sigh* Well whatever the case is, you got some time to look around before Elias gets done decorating and comes back to find you. Let's use this opportunity to look around and see if there's anything interesting." "Right. I'll start downstairs since I'm already here. Might as well look for those recipes too since I did promise." Taylor didn't answer that as you slowly walked out of the greenhouse and back day the way you came back to the foyer. Ah. The place where it all began. Still looked the same as before and not anything interesting was here, so you passed it to go snooping on the other side of the house. There was a small hallway with only two doors leading to some places you didn't know. You decided to grab the first pair of double doors and push them in with a creak. They slowly opened up knocking some dust into the air which you coughed at and waved away. It looked like...a giant living room almost. A few coaches and a love seat sat around the middle of the room across from a fireplace and above said fireplace was a mounted deer head. The sofas looked liked they'd seen better days looking extremely worn with tears here and there. An old grandfather clock was propped up against one wall, a rocking chair in one corning, another large bookshelf like in the study, and a painting of a building hung up on one wall. Guess Elias hasn't worked his magic here yet. Never the less you slowly walked in and looked around the room. Between the couch cushions, lifting up the painting, etc. It all harboured nothing. So you decided to again poking around the bookshelf for anything. F/c eyes scanned the many book spines. A series of encyclopedias, a dictionary, a thesaurus, a bible, Bible hymns, a collection of Shakespearean plays- Nothing here that'll be helpful to you and a quick scan around the rest of the shelf also showed no signs of a recipe. So you moved on. Exiting the room, and closing the door behind you. No dice in this room. Perhaps the other would show some results. You slowly approached the other pair of double doors and turned the doorknobs, pushing them in to stick your head in once more. It looked like a dining room. A large dining stable stood in the table surrounded by chairs and when lightning crashed again you could also make out a chandelier swinging above the table. Two lamps were placed on either side of the large window which the rain continued to batter against, and there was another fireplace. But one thing caught your eyes which was a fancy looking cabinet with glass windows- "Hey. You've been pretty quiet for a while now. Is everything ok?,'' Taylor asked slightly concerned in your ear. "I'm fine. I think this is where the dining room was. Certainly looks better than the lounge." "Anything interesting?" "There's a cabinet with more books. The Gallaghers seemed to loved reading." "Can you look around for anything important before indulging in literature again?" You sighed and rolled your eyes but complied. It didn't hurt to look around once more. You went poking at the fireplace, pushing up the lamp shades, and peeking under the table. No dice again. Gods. These heels were killing you! Eventually you found yourself slowly kneeling down trying not to fall over in your dress to peer at the bottom of the shelf. They seemed to be filled with recipe books of European cuisine. Irish, Polish, Dutch, and a few others. Could one of those be the recipe book Elias was referring to?  "Nothing in here that's mystery solving but I did find the cook books. ..But I dunno which one Elias is looking for." "He wanted to bake you a cake right? Maybe he's looking for a desert book specially?," Taylor suggested. "...Can ghosts even eat anything?" "Well Elias did have some tea and biscuits a little while ago. Maybe it's like food offerings for spirits?" Taylor hummed and you could already hear him mentally write that note down. You just continued to skim through the books here for any desert ones specifically. "...Hey. Do you maybe think that what Elias said about my flowers was true?" "Which part?" "That I really needed a friend and was seeking something to heal my heart?" There was silence on the other side from Taylor for a long moment before he sighed. "I mean isn't that what everyone wants? I know I would want a friend, and you did go through a lot...But I wouldn't put a bunch of thought into it. It's just a bunch of flowers." "Right...I don't see any desert books here, so I'm gonna look in the top half. But on the subject of flowers, you do know why I picked those zinnias right?" You slowly stood up taking the bouquet of white roses and orange zinnias with you before you carefully placed them on the table.  "No but I still stick by the fact that they made a good bouquet! Why?" "Because they reminded me of you." There was a choked wheeze from the other side of the line and you laughed hearing Taylor sputtering out noises. In the meantime you turned back to the upper part of the cabinet-  Static suddenly blares through the earpiece as dizziness strikes your mind. Your vision darkens as the room spins and your suddenly off your feet falling and falling through the darkness until your body strikes something. You opened your eyes. The dining room was back. The chandelier was swinging back and forth. Despite the living fire in the fireplace it was absolutely freezing in here like you were dumped in the north pole. This wasn't right. It wasn't raining like before and there wasn't any fires when you walked in here. Confused you turned back to the cabinet only to freeze as your eyes made contact with the glass. Encased in the glass was the figure of a woman. She's so far yet getting closer and closer. A knife in her hand and a Cheshire cat grin on her face. Her bloodlust filled gaze pierced your soul like a knife through hot butter. You couldn't move. Couldn't breath as absolute terror filled your cold body. Her mouth escaped a few airy but sinister low chuckled that sounded like right out of a horror movie as she got closer and closer to your frozen body. Close enough for you to almost feel the breath of her giggles on your face as the hand with the knife raised- "GET AWAY FROM ME?!," You voice finally bellowed out loudly breaking from whatever spell held you captive and threw up your hands to shield yourself. You again fell. Vision fading in and out fast until with a loud thud you fell to your knees. A gasp escaped your lips as your hands clutched the front of your gown covering the dress. Behind you a strike of lightning lit up the now deserted dining room leaving only you gasping there on the floor heart racing.  "Hey are you ok?! Answer me if you're ok!," Taylor cried out and you wheezed in response which seemed to be enough for him. "What happened? We're you attacked? The line went static again!" "I-If by ok you mean j-j-jumpscared? Then I'm doing great.", you said sarcastically. "I heard something like whispering or chanting?? Was that you?!" You shook your head. "It was Violet again." Taylor gave a short whine of concern. "I'm starting to think there's more spirits in here besides Elias. Why would there be interference when he's not even in the room?" You opened your mouth- "Darling?" You looked over your shoulder. Elias was there. Said ghost was hovering over you in worry frowning at the position you sat in. "What happened? Are you alright?" "I fell down." That was the truth after all. You didn't think it was a good idea to tell Elias you had visions of his ex who was the one responsible for his untimely demise. At least not yet. He looked alarmed but you just pointed at the cabinet. "I think I found where the recipe books are." "Goodness! I do hope you're not hurt. Here. Let me help you up." You accepted his help as he gently grabbed you under the arms and pulled you back up into a standing position. "Better?" You nodded. "Yeah. Thanks. My feet are just sore from walking around in these heels all night." You really hoped these visions wouldn't be happening all night. "Are you done decorating already?" He smiled again and nodded. "Yes. I was wondering where you may have wondered off too. Im only sorry I couldn't be here to stop you from hurting yourself." Taylor groaned and you ignored him waving a hand. "Nah. I've already tripped so many times tonight I'm used to it by now. And I'm not hurt so don't worry about it. Let's just focus on the rest of the preparations." Elias nodded with a smile. "Yes. Of course." You watched as Elias went over with a bounce in his...float(??) over to the cabinet before carefully opening it up and reaching inside to skim over the books. "Our wedding shall be oh so fine, the layered cake most of all. Nana's baking's devine, and when paired with white wine, to not taste would be most regrettable." He stopped on book before looking at you. "Although I do miss her cream pies as well. Shame they're not quite appropriate for a wedding ceremony." Taylor busted out in loud laughter in your ear and you snorted which you quickly turned into a loud cough as Elias rose a brow."S-Sorry. Some dust flew into my mouth." You tried not to laugh despite Taylor continuing to in your ear. "*ahem* Anyways it l-looks like we found it!" He smiled wider. "Indeed. I have the recipe we need here. She wrote the recipe in a manner that allowed you to make it in any flavor as long as you had the proper ingredients. Say what flavor should our cake be, Dearest?" "Funfetti. C-Chose funfetti," Taylor joked out through some remaining giggles. You ignored him. "I dunno. White cake is usually served in weddings right?" You hummed thinking. "...Maybe vanilla? Or an angel food cake or would yellow cake be better?" "What cake did you have at your other wedding?" You shrugged. "Didn't get one. To be honest I didn't get a whole lot of say in the wedding plans. He sort of just threw it all together and called it a day." Elias paused to look at you in shock before frowning in annoyance. "He sounds like an awful man. To be so inconsiderate of his own Bride especially on her own wedding day." You frowned and shrugged. "It's alright. We're not together anymore anyways." "Nevertheless I shan't do the same thing. What cake does my bride desire?" You thought about it for a moment. "...I'll go with vanilla then. It's a classic and you can't go wrong with a vanilla cake for a wedding right?" He smiled wider. "Vanilla it is then!" He turned his gaze back into the cabinet.. and frowned again. "Oh no. The recipe book's not here." "It's not?" He shook his head. "I could've sworn it was. I know I've seen it in the last decade at least. Oh no." "Offer to keep looking around for it. That'll give us another chance to look around for more clues. Like that desk in the study! I'm sure that's where we might find clues to the fortune at least!," Taylor suggested. Not a bad idea. Maybe there's something that'll help you with your situation too. "Why don't we look around more?" You suggested reaching out to grab his shoulder. "Maybe you left it in the kitchen?" He hummed in thought before nodding. "Perhaps you're right. That also seems like a good place as any to find a recipe book."  "I'll look upstairs. If it's not down here then maybe you accidentally left it up there." He nodded again. "Very well. But do be careful. I haven't had a chance to restore the other rooms yet." "I will. I'm just going to recheck the study anyways. Maybe I saw it on the shelf but didn't realize it. If I find it I'll call your name." Elias agreed and with a small bow to you turned and floated right through a wall out of sight. "Is he gone now?" "Yes. But I genuinely think I should help him find those recipes. If they belonged to his grandma then they're probably sentimental to him." You started walking towards the door pushing the still open door but scooping up your flowers in the beginning. "If they're not in the study or the kitchen I don't know where'd they be." You then hummed. "Speaking of sentimental stuff...Maybe I could find his room. That's where his most prized possessions would be since he lived there right? That might be where he left the book." "Uh huh. You sure you don't just wanna renact the spicy scene from Ghostbusters?" You frowned at his sarcastic tone. Two could play at that game. "You tell me. I'm not the one who wrote those erotic scenes in the notebook you left at the club meeting." CHOKE- You rose a brow continuing to the foyer again as Taylor choked on air and sputter unintelligible noises. "That-..I never-...How did you even-?! That notebook contains highly classified information I'll have you know and I don't appreciate the invasion of privacy!" You rolled your eyes. "What's wrong with Ghostbusters anyways? You sure seem to like comparing yourself to Egon so much." You picked up the front of your dress to avoid tripping over it as you started back up the stairs. Your heel clicks echoing everywhere mixed up with the sounds of rain.  "Well I am the brains of this operation and planned it all so Egon just makes sense." You rolled your eyes again. "I think you're more of a Janine. You're red hair and cute face matches her a lot better." He again choked and sputtered as you carefully climbed up the stairs but eventually he cleared his throat. "I knew it. Y-You do think I'm cute." You again ignored that part. "Besides I think I should get some credit. You may be the planner but I'M the one currently stuck in a blood oath to a ghost." You gave another worried glance at the bloodied ring on your finger still.  "Hey. Backup is important. Besides all the dust would clog up my sinuses." This time you did smirk. "Is that truly the reason or are you just worried about exposing your desire to be ravished by a ghost? You weren't being subtle hiding that lewd fanfiction." "GAH?!" The squeal that left him had you finally laughing before putting on a dramatic voice. "'She had me pinned against the wall. Her lips left a trail of fire as she-'" "IT'S NOT FANFICTION!!," Taylor shrieked out in a high pitched voice cutting you off into giggles as he grumbled. "Besides ...I wasn't writing about ghosts." Your brows rose. "Then what-" "Just get to the study before Elias gets back!," he grumbled in the same high pitched tone. Deciding it'd be best to drop the subject, you continued to walk around to the second floor and then to the left. If you remembered right, Elias brought you from this way. You managed to somehow find your way back to the hallway you first woke up in and around the same corner back in the study. The door creaked open as you walked right inside soon looking up at the shelf again. Your main priority should be the desk...but you also wanted to keep your promise to Elias. And it wouldn't hurt to double check to see if you missed something. Quickly you skimmed across the titles printed along each spine skimming a hand over them all, pulling out the books again that had their titles faded...but there wasn't any recipe books. Well at least you tried and that was one crossed off where they might be but just in case you checked over the books Elias left on the coffee table next to the teaset. Still nothing so you moved on to the desk. The first thing you did was open the two small drawers connected to it. They were filled with nothing but extra papers, envelopes, and inkwells which you were sure was all dried up from how long they were there. Then your gaze went to a thick book on top of the desk. It seemed like the only thing important amongst the area covered in old feather quills and papers. You're hands reached out to carefully open it and your eyes widened. "I think I found the old Gallagher family ledgers!" "You WHAT!? What does it say?!" Your hands turned page after page staring at the yellowed pages and faded ink. "They're filled with bank statements with dates and amounts and the bank's name..but it doesn't say anything about any jewels." Taylor groaned and you had to agree. Another dead end. You continued skimming through the book until stopping on the last page and pausing. "Wait a minute." "What is it?" "The last page of the ledger has 'Those without fortune cling to what they haven't in bright red ink. Like someone was desperate or something." Unlike the rest of the book where everything was written in black neat cursive ink, this writing looked desperate and fast. "The hell? What does that even mean?" "I guess the only one who knows is Elias, and I don't think asking him about missing jewelry is at the top of my priority list right now." You again gave a soft glare at the ring on your finger before closing the book and placing it back where you found it. "I'm gonna go look somewhere else. Maybe I can find the parents' old room or something." You didn't take more than a few steps by the couch when a rush of static shot from the earpiece again and dizziness hot you causing you to stumble and sway. ..oh no. Not again- You fell forward to the ground as darkness encased you again. Hushed, hurried voices echoed in the darkness. Heavy feet stomp on plush rugs. Tension and anger filled the air. Louder and louder. Shouting and yelling. Which way was up? Which way down?  You couldn't tell if you were lying on the floor or still falling! It felt like someone was squeezing your lungs and you wanted to cry. A tiny ray of light shown above you and you reached out to it quickly to escape the darkness. You managed to pull yourself inside and what met you was a motion picture capturing a moment in time. What the- It was the study again only this time much better looking. Two figures..One a middle aged man sitting in the office chair looking busy. The other much younger around your age and holding a cane in his right hand. You didn't recognize him at first not being translucent and blue but-... Your face lit up in surprise. "Elias?" Neither figure turned as you asked. "Blast it all!" You jumped looking back at the older man as he complained as he worked. "Your sister died earlier this spring and already we have to make arrangements for another funeral!" "Father. If I could speak just once," Human Elias pleaded. "What is it, Elias? I don't have time for chatter with a child like you." Elias tapped his cane on the ground several times in protest as his father didn't even notice. "I am NOT a child anymore. I'm already of age. Id only like to make a single request of you. It won't even be any trouble to you, Father." "And just what might that be?" "My mirror has been in need of repair for the longest time. If you could have someone repair it-" "What mirror?," his father barked at him snapping his head up suddenly angry. "G-Grandmother's mirror. The one that used to be in the attic. I still have all the pieces." His angered look turned to disgust. "You still have that trash in your room and you dare ask me to repair it after YOU broke it?!" Elias gripped the cane so hard his knuckles turned white in frustration. "But it wasn't me. It was-" "I don't have time for your childish sentimentality, Elias. That mirror is worth nothing and I have more pressing matters to deal with. Leave now or I'll have one of the servants remove you!" "Father, I can walk on my own two feet just fine." If his father heard Elias he didn't respond as his son gripped his cane and turned towards the door just as your head was hot with a shot of pain and the light flared up blocking out everything before a different reel with Elias and the rest of his family mellowed from the light. Elias was human again and he was surrounded by his other six siblings and his father. They were all jeering and shouting at him. Making fun of him. Calling him terrible names like weak and a mistake.  Once again the darkness enveloped you once more before you could do anything. You found yourself gasping awake on the couch you fell onto. Sucking in air like a drowning man and hearing your heart in your ears.  "Copy! Y/n, do you copy?!" You were never more glad to hear Taylor's voice. "I-I'm fine..fine." you were starting to get annoyed with these dizzy spells. "Another vision? Give me a status report!" "I-I saw Archibald Gallagher. I think." Taylor remained in stunned silence as you gently pushed yourself up from the cushions. "He was planning the next family funeral. E-Elisas was there too. He wanted to repair a..mirror? He said it belonged to his grandmother." "A mirror? Hm. I'll see what I can find out about it. Was there anything else?" You leaned back against the cushions with a sigh. "Yeah. Elias was using a cane, and his father said something about having the servants remove him like he was an object." "What the actual fuck?" "I know. He said it like Elias couldn't leave himself like he had zero atonomy and Elias was really upset." You scowled hard and turned your head to glare at the office chair where Archibald had been sitting. "I wish he was a ghost here! I would've given him a piece of my mind!" "Focus!," Taylor cut through your rage filled thoughts. "Are you sure you're alright?" You inhaled before slowly exhaling through your nose. "Yeah. I'm just angry. I don't know why I'm getting these visions but they're really intense." "It must be because of the connection you two share right now. Told you blood was a powerful supernatural ingredient." You silently looked at the ring still on your finger. "...I think I'm going to head out now. Staying here is only gonna make me angry." "Alright, Y/n. Make sure you keep an eye out and be careful." You nodded despite not seeing you and you slowly stood up giving one last glare at the office chair before leaving. You heels clicking as yet another flash of lightning the hallway up as you walked along. What now?...Try another door you guessed? There wasn't anything else that you could do for now. So you tried to reach out to the nearest door and turned the knob. Didn't budge. Next door. It opened but it was another closet. Another door across the hall. The doorknob turned and you slowly pushed it in wincing as the hinges creaked loudly. The door opened completely and you blinked at what was inside.  "A bedroom?"

Until Death Do You Vow Ch6
(Warnings: Elias has a panic attack.) "....I dunno. We'll think of something. Right now it's the only thing I can think of." "Maybe we can also solve why the Gallagher's were cursed?", you suggested instead reaching out a hand to rub one of your ankles. "While we're here we might as well get some answers." "Unless he really was a mastermind and hacked off the rest of his family." "I doubt it. Elias might have been the only survivor but he doesn't really seem like the murderer type. If anything he's more of the excited lonely guy." "Looks can be deceiving you know!," Taylor grumbled and you could picture him facepalming. "Alright. But maybe we can look for the treasure too. If Elias was the sole survivor then maybe he knew where it was hidden. We'd be solving an entire century long mystery! We could even be famous for solving it!" He sounded happy again at least. "Let's be tactful about this though. My entire single life is on the line here, Taylor." "Right, right. For now let's go along with his ceremony idea. That would buy us some time to be able to get a good look around here. Where in the mansion are you right now?" "I think this is a study. It sure looks like an office." "Great place to start! Offices are usually where you do paperwork so maybe there's some old documents laying around there. Take a look around and see what you can find before Elias comes back." Not a bad idea but your feet were killing you. Sigh. Oh well. Honestly you were now invested in this new crime solving take and if it'll help you get out of this mess, then you'd take the chance. Your foot lowered again, and you stood back up. The scent of the chamomile tea and stale vanilla scented biscuits from the silver tray on the table mixed in with the slightly stale air and smell of old paper no doubt from the books Elias left on the table and the ones still stacked up on the shelf. You decided to start there. Seemed as good as a place as any to start. The echo of your heels clicking filled the otherwise silent room as you approached the shelf. F/c eyes scanned the shelf. Ok. What were you looking for? A date book? Maybe a diary? Maybe if you pulled one of the books out a secret passageway would appear like in those movies? You decided to try it. Going about pulling back any and all random books..but nothing happened. No dice there. Stumped and a little disappointed, you settled for just scanning the book spines. Some were pretty faded so you had to pull them out and flip through them to make out what they were. Most were just old novels with yellowed pages and faded ink. No help to you. The next one you actually recognized. 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' by Mark Twain. One of the most popular old forms of literature you thought- "Dearest?" The voice made you jump and whirl your head around to come face to face with Elias. He blinked at you from the doorway holding a second teacup in his hands. "What are you doing?" "I was looking at your books," you answered him truthfully holding up the book in your hands. "I didn't know you liked Mark Twain. Elias quickly smiled. "Ah. So you are familiar with the author?" "A little bit. I only read one of his books a long time ago when I was really little but he's a pretty famous author." You casually placed the book back on the shelf. Guess you had to wait until you could look through the desk. "Why do you have another cup?" "Oh, I thought perhaps you'd be thirsty after you slept." He smiled floating forward and placing the teacup next to the rest of the teaser. "I know you probably haven't eaten anything either yet. Surely you'd need to eat for strength as you still need to sustain your body." You were surprised. That...was actually a really nice gesture of him. "I..Thank you but I'm not thirsty right now." Well might as well enact this plan. "Hey. I think you mentioned wanting a ceremony right?" Immediately his attention seemed to perk up more. "I was thinking about that actually. Neither of us really got the chance to really have one, even if it's not the one we had in mind, maybe it would be nice to at least experience it." Immediately Elias's face lit up in possibly the happiest expression you've ever seen on the ghost so far. His hands clasped together happily. "Oh, my darling. My dearest, you have no idea how happy that makes me! There's no time to waste them. The arrangements shall be made post haste." You slowly nodded.  Had to admit, he was kinda cute when he was happy. "So, Elias. What do we need for the ceremony? I'm a bit rusty when it comes to wedding planning." You watched him think a moment tapping his bobbing chin. "Well, there's the room to prepare but I can take care of the decor fast and simple. There's also a matter of the cake, but I require my grandmother's recipe book first. Then of course there's your bouquet. I'm afraid your old flowers were trampled outside-" CRASH!! You again jumped looking up at the ceiling as more thunder sounded and the rain finally started to pour down through the sky and began to beat against the roof of the mansion. Ah. Now it was truly an environment for a haunted house mystery complete with a spooky moon and rain on Friday the Thirteenth with a ghost and curse mixed in with that mystery.  "..They also seemed to be getting soaked," he added after also looking up briefly. "However the flowers in my greenhouse are more than capable of becoming a beautiful bouquet for the occasion." "The green house? Doesn't like there's any clues there but it might be worth checking out just in case. If not then to get Elias in a good mood," Taylor pondered in your ear.  You agreed. No stone left unturned as the saying goes. "Let's start there. That seems like the easiest thing to take care of first." "Very well. Come. I'll escort you there." He turned and as like a gentleman from his time, stuck his arm out offering for you to take it. Not wanting to upset him and going with the plan for now, you proceeded to loop your arm with his and off you both went. Guess you'd come back later to continue searching.  Elias escorted you back the way you came and only now you realized that the stairs were the opposite way you came from. Mentally you facepalmed yourself. And cursed yourself as you had to lift your dress just to walk down the long flight of stairs in heels, thankfully Elias slowed his pace and steadied you until the danger of falling down the stairs had passed. At one point you were back in the foyer which to your surprise also looked so much better. Guess whatever Elias was doing to the place was really working. He guided you across the mansion all the way to the other side until he stopped in front of two double glass doors before detaching from you and just phasing right through them. He paused on the other side turning the lock with a click and pulling open the door to allow you to come through. "Come right in!" "Thanks!" You walked right into what must've been his greenhouse and paused at the sight of rain battering hard against all the glass around you and water sliding down it's sides. The place was half filled with little or dried, dead plants. But overall didn't look too bad. "Wow. Sure is big. So, you said there was flowers here?" "Yes. Of course. Behold!" Elias raised his hands and you watched in amazement as the soil moved as something moved as something pushed up from under the soil and a moment later so many color flowers sprung out from beneath the soil. You gazed in awe at them all. "Voila. My dear, your flowers." "Elias .. That's amazing. I didn't know you could do that!" He chuckled sheepishly. "There's so many." "Yes. So many varieties for you to pick. Why not start with a base flower first?" "There's so many. I don't think I could make just one bouquet." A thought crossed your mind as you stared at all of them. "Why don't we make two?" Elias blinked. "Two?" "Sure. There's so many pretty flowers. We can make a flower arrangement to decorate the altar and then another one for my bouquet and then we can pick some to decorate the entire room." Elias seemed to light up at the idea of decorating the entire room in his flowers. "After all you're supposed to decorate the alter for a ceremony right?" Maybe you were getting too into this idea for a ceremony but it was starting to get fun. Elias also seemed to light up at the idea. "Yes. An arrangement we made together for the alter where our ceremony will take place. It sounds wonderful. Shall we make the centerpiece first or your bouquet?" "Let's do the centerpiece first." Your eyes scanned the many, many flowers available for you to chose from. Eventually f/c landed on a few roses. "How about these for the base? Red means love right?" Elias stared at the roses before nodding. "Red on a rose means true love. Undeying love. Eternal love." "Seems about right for a wedding. You got anything to put them in?" "Of course!" You blinked as he simply held up his hands and a moment later, a nearly see through glass vase flew from somewhere and right into his hands before presenting it to you. "Acceptable?" You nodded. "Yeah! Perfect!" You reached out to the roses..but stopped. Wait. If a rose pricking you got you into this mess, then you didn't want to risk it happening again. "Um. Could you maybe get these? I don't want to prick myself again." "But of course. You shouldn't have to endure your hands again. Allow me, Dearest." With a flick of his wrist, at least a dozen roses snapped from their stems and floated up and into the vase. "How does that look?" "Great! You have amazing powers!" He smiled wider at you. "Splendid. Now did you have thoughts on accouterments? Accent flowers if you will." Ah right. This wasn't a whole bouquet yet. Crap. You didn't know flower arrangements. "I.. don't have a lot of ideas. What do you think? After all we're making this together." "Of course. First some baby breaths." He then turned to you assumed add the flowers to the vase.  "Fake the flower languages," Taylor suggested in your ear. "If you're right, he's happy. If you're wrong I'm sure Elias will be happy to correct you." Why not? You're supposed to be into this right? "Those have something to do with youth right?" You were guessing based off the word baby being in the name. "In this bouquet, more a symbol of innocence and purity." He carefully made a point of painstakingly and carefully plucking each white flower and looking at it closely before ticking it into somewhere between the red petals. "They work stunningly when used sparingly. One may expect that their small size must be bolstered by great numbers, but that simply isn't true." To make a point he tilted the vase to you as he placed another in. "Do you see how that little bit of elevation gives the whole bouquet dynamism? Personality?" You nodded. "It looks really pretty, Elias. Do you wanna add anything else?" He nodded. "Yes. I think so. What would you say to lemon balm?" He asked after a moment of looking over the base in his hands.  "I'd ask how closely they were related to lemons." You ignored Taylor's sarcastic response. "Those mean sweet right?" Lemon balm sounded close to lip balm and most lip balls come in sweet flavors. "Sympathy and compassion although bringing up sweetness, they do make a nice tea," he corrected already reaching for another plant. "Only some leaves, green and small. Perfect for filling in the gaps and adding a nice aroma." "Sounds wonderful." Elias patiently finished adding the leaves along the gaps and crevices before smiling and looking at you. "How about one more flower? I have chosen two more than you have." "Sure. Um." F/c eyes carefully examined the many, MANY flowers blooming before you. You didn't recognize a whole lot of them outside the roses and baby breaths, mostly due to you having them at your own failed wedding. You shook your head pushing away any bad memories before just randomly pointing at a flat petaled yellow flower. "How bout this one?" Elias followed your hand. "Ah. The yarrow." "Is that what it's called? I'll admit I have no idea about this one." "A symbol of everlasting love." ...You chose everlasting love twice?? "Again?" Taylor mirrored your thoughts. You didn't say anything else but chose to pick a few yellow flowers and add them to the vase which Elias tilted forward to allow you easier access to tuck them in between the red and white flowers. Not the most average bouquet but you had to admit it sure was a pretty centerpiece. A centerpiece that meant too many meanings. Too many promises. You shook your head. Snap out of it. It was only silly flowers meant to look pretty. Soon you were done and Elias smiled joyously at something the both of you made together. You almost felt bad for him. "A truly gorgeous centerpiece my dear, but no where near as gorgeous as you." He looked you straight in the eyes as he said that and you felt again your face lighting up before you looked away.  "Thanks..*ahem* L-Lets pick some for around the room now. T-They should be different than the alter piece do it stands out." You quickly changed the subject back onto the flowers to which Elias agreed to with a nod. Ok. All you gotta do is chose another base flower for the decor right? You looked around the flowers until stopping on one that was bright orange. "How about this one for the base? Do you think orange would be a good base color?" "Heck yeah! Orange is a great color AND flavor!," Taylor once again piped up and you expected as much from him. "Are you actually good at flower arrangements? I wanna see this now!" Elias took his time looking up from his pretty vase of flowers, fonding over them. "Ah, zinnias." Elias regarded them for a long pause before closing his eyes and nodded. "They're quite sentimental flowers, and I suppose neither of us can drop sentimentality so easily." "True." You kept remembering that horrible day. It still hurts. "Otherwise you wouldn't be here." "And you either. I trust you understand the significance." He smiled watching before adding. "Now what accoutrements would you like to add? There are so many and I want to see what you choose." What would go well with bright orange? You ignored Taylor's suggestion for something bold and instead browsed the many, many..MANY options eyes falling on the white ones. ...Why not the white and pink ones? White goes well with anything, and pink looks nice with orange. Kinda reminded you of spring time. You pointed at them. "How about the white ones with the pink stripes and those with the pink insides?," you suggested as again Elias looked. The ghost regarded your two options with a cock of his bobbing head. "So much pink!" He exclaimed but didn't sound against it more as an observation. "But the Peruvian lillies are certainly eye catching, and the pear blossoms do add a particular gentleness." That wasn't a no. "Hey! When you get a chance send me a picture? Wait.. Aren't they like ghost flowers? Can you even take a picture of them? Or do they only pop up at night?" "Elias.' he perked up at your questioning tone. "How long do these flowers last anyways?" His expression became softer if that was possible. "For as long as we desire and tend to them. But you must learn to listen to them as well." You blinked back to him the weight of the flowers suddenly seeming heavier. "Right. Flowers have different meanings." Fc eyes skimmed the combo of mostly orange and white. You hoped you didn't pick more everlasting love again. "What do these mean now?" To your question he did another take at your options the same way someone would read a book... before a small frown replaced his smile. "Collectively that your loneliness leads you to needing...A-A friend." "A friend?" He nodded and you looked back to the flowers. "...Well that's not entirely a bad thing. Everyone could use a friend right?" Elias only hummed in agreement and you got the impression that he felt a bit down.. was he upset that the flowers were signalling you two just be friends? Quickly changing the subject you pointed out another random flower. "Can I add this to it?" He perked up. "Queen Anne's Lace? An interesting choice." "Interesting? Why? What does it mean?" "There is a desire for sanctuary deep within you." You stood there stunned by it but you were even more shocked when he looked you dead in the eyes. "The pain you hold..It runs deeper than just one sad day doesn't it?" You fell silent staring at him for a long while before you sighed through your nose and looked back to the flowers to just silently pluck out a few of the new ones you pointed out. Only adding them to the ones you wanted as decor. The silence seemed to have Elias worried as he just looked at you working with a guilty expression. "My dearest, I apologize profusely. I shouldn't have pried into your tragedy so carelessly like I did." He tried to apologize but reaching out to squeeze your hand making you involuntary shudder from the cold his body gave off. "Why don't we pick out a few more flowers? Your bouquet will look lovely I'm sure." Quietly you nodded. "Wonderful. What shall you pick?" Well considering that the centerpiece and bouquet were all different types of flowers, why not pick more different ones for the bouquet? But something that still matches well with the centerpiece. So maybe some more roses? Although you should still made sure it matched the theme of an actual wedding. Your eyes scanned the many selections still presented to you before you pointed out the roses again.  "Maybe more roses?" Elias happily nodded. "Yes. That sounds quite quaint. It would match the overall visage without taking too much away from the center alter. But pray tell, what other flowers should be added to it?" "Well if it's going to be roses then something that goes along with them." You mumbled still  looking over a few until spotting a few long stems sticking out and hanging from them was a few heart shaped petals. "How about these?" His eyes lit up. "The lyreflowers." Was that what they were called? "I see. They may be delicate but they're passionate. They're also known as bleeding hearts, lady in a bath, and Venus's cat. They're representative of a kind soul." "Sounds like a perfect match for a rose and what better thing to go with a rose then a couple hearts?" He nodded in agreement. "How about some white ones too? I mean white is usually the color for a wedding right?" "Of course. The pink and red would be a bit too bold on their own otherwise." You pointed out the first white flower you saw. "Ah. White poppies. They live in the realm of dreams, kindness, and consolation." You nodded again looking at all of the flowers again. "...I think I want some white roses for the bouquet instead of the red ones. It'd go better with my dress, plus it'll help the bleeding hearts stand out." "Ah. Flowers of purity, reverence, and secrecy."  Again that wasn't a no so you gathered up the three flowers up in your hands, careful with the roses and with enough of them to create a big bouquet. There. That looked pretty but it seemed a bit too..white. Your eyes caught sight of some cute little purple flowers and started grabbing them. Pink and purple looked cute together and it'd add color to the bold white colors. Elias watched as you plucked a few up to add to the spaces between the white.. before his face slowly turned into a frown. "The stonecrops are tranquil, serene...A cure for a broken heart." You stopped in the middle of it all to look at him again. And noticed his concerned look. "Oh. Is that what they mean? I just thought they were pretty. Are you ok with them?" His eyes looked away nervously as he nodded. "You don't look sure." After a few seconds a sigh left his lips. "They're very familiar choices to me, and perhaps familiar to you too. Tell me, what bouquet did you carry to the alter before?" He looked back to you with a stern look brows furrowing in concern. The sudden look made you blink taken aback by his change in demeanor. "Well the mini one I brought with me was just like five roses-" "No. I mean your actual ceremony, not the ones you lost outside hours ago." He corrected you. "You mentioned that you were stood up upon the alter two years ago correct? What flowers did you have then?"  "Oh..Well, to be honest I just had a whole bunch of roses again." You shrugged at the memory. "I mean lots of people have roses and it wasn't a bad option so...It was sorta just expected I guess. Look, Elias. If these flowers upset you we can choose something else-" "No, no." He was quick to hold up a hand. "It's your choice. I won't make you feel like you can't have what you want in a bouquet. If that's truly what you want then I-I won't stop you-" he nearly dropped the vase in his arms when you grabbed his outstretched hand sternly. "Nu uh. Obviously these make you uncomfortable and I only choose them because I thought the color was pretty. I'll pick a different one." "Dearest, you don't have to."  "I know I don't have to. I WANT to. This ceremony is for you just as much as it is for me. You deserve to be comfortable." You let go of his hands and began pulling the purple stonecrops from the bouquet in your hands. "We'll do this instead. Let's take out the white lilies and the bleeding hearts and add them to the decor instead of the zinnias. That was all the decor will be white and pink which would match up better. And I'll just keep the white roses as a bouquet. It'll still match with everything else, and there won't be anything to make you uncomfortable." You looked at him when he didn't say anything. "...What?" "I-..Nothing." He shook his head as you continued removing all the excess flowers besides the white roses. "I-I just wasn't expecting you to just insist on compromise is all. Especially for my own sake." "I'm serious. I'm not going to make you uncomfortable just because I don't know how flowers work." "I still insist on you having a bouquet you want regardless." "Ok. Then I want just white roses... I'll add some zinnias too. Orange and white will still look good together and the roses could use a friend too." "See? I told you orange was the best choice," Taylor added. Elias didn't say anything but he sighed in what sounded like relief. "If that's what you want dearest. I'm sure whatever you want will be beautiful." He hesitated for a second. "..Thank you." You only nodded continuing to work the other flowers out until you started to put the orange zinnias in. There. Maybe not the first choice of a bouquet but it was still pretty. And with all the decor chosen that knocked that out of the way. You smiled at the flowers in your hands and paused a moment more to look at the flowers. A bluish one you didn't see before catching your eye. "Elias, what are these flowers?" He turned in question and froze as you picked one up. "I don't think I've seen this one before." Silence. "Elias?" You froze at what you saw. Elias seemed to be fading in and out. A look of pure terror on his face. Eyes directly on your hand holding the tiny blue flower. "Hey! What's going on over there?! I-I'm getting nothing but static again! Answer me, Y/n!," Taylor shouted out static-y. "I-I don't know. Elias? Are you ok?" Only one word escaped his trembling mouth. "Vi-......Violet." Something shatters to the ground like a meteor striking the mansion, shining a spotlight on your face and...the sun is out? Impossible. Wasn't it in the middle of the night and storming outside just seconds ago? The sharp light shown harshly through the glass and all you could see was white haze. Something is very wrong. Eventually a shadow outside of the nearest window pane caught your eyes as you looked. An archway- A gazebo baking in the hot sun surrounded by a lush garden with sickeningly sweet scents in the air. What the- How'd you get outside?! Everything seemed to be fogged in by a harsh white light that didn't go away even when you said a hand up- Until a woman walked by. You jolted up as she just walked by blatantly ignoring you but it was too haxu to make out who it was..Even if one name came to mind. Violet. She walked along the shadows of the trees under the archway and through the gazebo. And somehow she's still next to you despite being so far away. The wind nearly blows her hat off and the hazy light shines on a single shiny object hanging around her throat. A... necklace? It was a red gem (maybe a ruby?) on a chain of little pearls. Pretty to look at and somehow familiar.  "Elias?!", you tried calling out to the haze. No one answered but the woman turned to see who disturbed the peace of the garden around you both. And then everything went black-

Until Death Do You Vow Ch5
(Warnings: Mentioning of blood.) The distant cry of a carnival mystery. A pained wail. A pained moan. Looping through the walls and dancing on flowers. The petals shake. Stems and pistals trembled. And  perfume avalanche upon thee. A billion scents  as strong as a forgotten sun. Strong enough to sting your eyes  It was still dark when you came to. And the first thing you felt was the coldness and softness of something which you laid upon with a ringing in your ears, and for a moment you thought it was a dream. All of it. Just a terrible, horrible nightmare. And you'd open your eyes and be staring at the walls of your small home, laying on your sorry excuse for a bed in your apartment with Taylor bunking on the couch like so many times before when your investigations turned up nothing. The second thing you felt was pain and soreness the more your body began to wake. It started with a small throbbing headache just under your skull, as if someone was beating it from inside out. You didn't bother to move much other than lift a hand trembling to your head, wincing at the many cuts and bruises that lined not only this arm, but your other arm, where your legs weren't covered by your gown, and some on your face and neck from where you had fallen or been pushed over. The many small cuts, bruises, and scrapes stung like tiny annoying jabs at your skin. And to top it all off, you felt pins and needles in the left arm and leg you'd been laying on for a while when you forced yourself up just enough for you to lay on your less sore back and stare up at the blue ceiling above your body. F/c eyes blinked as something bright shown down at you from above. The sun???....No. It wasn't the sun. That would've been a very warm welcome to what it had ended up being. Your vision gradually, slowly came back enough to focus on what was swung above your head, and your brain registered it as ...the moon? Yes. The moon. The harmless thing hung above you shining through the window silently as if acting as a bright beacon for your darkened experiences. Despite its blood red menacing appearance. Which begs the question...Where WERE you!? You continued to lay there until the pins and needles fully left the right side of your body and you pushed yourself up into a sitting position, hissing at the soreness and somewhat numbness of your poor limbs. And with a hiss, you looked around. This uh...This wasn't your apartment. Or your bedroom. It looked like you had fallen through one of those old black and white photos from the Victorian times and landed in one of their bedrooms. The furniture around the room looked old but at the same time, in great condition like it was all brand new. Even the curtained bed you laid upon looked well made . The sheets silky and clean as if freshly washed, dried, and placed on the mattress and the pillows still fluffy from where you had laid on them. No damage at all could be seen around the room. No mold. No mildew. No cobwebs or dust. No graffiti. No trash or broken furniture. Nothing. "....What the heck? Where am I?," you asked yourself the ringing still present. Funny. You thought the ringing would leave by now. It didn't occur to you that the rings was not in your ears until you looked down at the bed and found your phone lit up and ringing loudly. It made you flinch as it moved before stopping and then someone called loudly through the earpiece once more. "Oh God, Y/n!!," you winced as Taylor's voice yelled through the earpiece. "I've tried calling like fifty times since the connection dropped! What the hell happened?!" "Ow! Keep it down, Taylor. I'm fine! I just passed out ..and somehow ended up in bed?" You gave another confused look around. "Are you still in the mansion?!" You paused. And paled as the events from before hit you. That...That WASN'T some dream or sleep deprived hallucination from Taylor's ramblings! YOU HAD BEEN TOUCHED BY A GHOST!! And not any ghost! THE Elias Gallagher. You shuddered and goosebumps appeared where you remembered his cold touch. A bigger shiver ran through you. "Describe your location?" You blinked before looking around again. "Well.. Everything is dark and a shade of blue, and I'm still in the mansion I think. So not too bad but I dunno if I'd consider it 'good'. I'm in some kind of bedroom." "Wait. A bedroom?" "Yeah. It's really weird. Compared to everywhere else this room is surprisingly really clean. None of the paint's chipping off the walls and all of the furniture looks almost brand new. But it still matches that Victorian mansion look. Here. Take a look." Holding up your phone, you turned it on and snapped a few pictures the flash lighting up the room- Just as a strike of lightning  lit up the room in all its glory. You jumped looking out the window again only just now noticing the clouds that had nearly blocked out the entire sky. It would rain any moment. Shaking your head, you went ahead and sent the photos to Taylor before noticing something else. .....Where the heck did these gloves come from?! Your hands were covered in some kind of fancy silk gloves and a shiny ring slipped on over one . Your get up didn't come with these! Obviously you didn't put them on. Which meant someone had to have removed this ring, placed these on you, and then slipped the ring back on your finger. ..A gift from Elias maybe? "Huh." After a moment Taylor spoke back up which means he must've seen the pictures you texted him. "Maybe the door was locked and nobody got in?" He suggested. "This place is a known party hub. Maybe whoever else wrecked this place but they couldn't get into there?" "I don't think so. Even if that was true, don't you think there still would've been a whole bunch of dust in here? And rotting furniture and stuff?"  "That's really strange." "No kidding. Maybe Elias likes a clean living..uh dead space. But this whole situation is crazy. Way different than the last time I had a ghost encounter." There was a loooong moment of silence before Taylor gave a nervous laugh making you raise a brow. "Taylor, what's so funny?" "I- ..Uh . That's because the last mission I sent you on wasn't the real thing. That was a uh-..fake ghost encounter." There was a pause..."WHAT?!" "Hey. It wasn't a bad thing." He quickly defended himself as your anger suddenly grew. "We did get a few members after we posted your reaction." "For a few weeks before they left! Are you freaking kidding me, Taylor?! I can't believe you'd do something like that! When I get out of here, we're going to have a VERY long talk!" You shouted annoyed at him before grabbing your phone and swinging your legs off the bed. "As soon as I find a way out of here, you're so dead! Then we can film you as a stupid ghost and get members that way!" "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hang on a sec. Aren't you lightheaded or dizzy or something? I think I heard you fall and I've been trying to reach you for TWO HOURS! You might have a concussion or something!" You deadpanned. "I feel fine besides finding out my best friend faked a ghost and didn't tell me." He audible winced. "Besides I only fainted...Either I was really scared, or that ghost was really powerful. What did you hear while I was out cold?' "I just kept hearing that guy's voice and a rush of air. So...was it really Elias?" "Are you sure this isn't another one of your fake ghosts?" Maybe you shouldn't have said that but you were angry and hoping that maybe he'd say yes so you could believe that this really didn't happen. "What?! N-No! I swear!" Ok. There goes that hope. "So you really talked to THE Elias Gallagher?" "He held my hand too." "Ok. I'm coming in! We have to get you outta there!" "WHOA ! Hang on there! You can't just barge in here! We don't know what might happen if another person disturbs a ghosts resting place! Plus I don't even know where I am! There's no sense in both of us getting lost!" You slowly stepped towards the door you were sure wasn't a closet. "Plus, maybe I can take a picture of Elias if I come across him. Isn't that what you wanted? Proof of ghosts?" "Yeah. I was sorta prepared to find a ghost not for you to go M.I.A for two whole hours!!" Taylor hyperventilated. "Taylor, calm down. Deep breaths. I'm fine. I'm still here and talking to you aren't I?"  You passed by a full length mirror and gave it a look. And paused. You were surprised to find your entire reflection perfectly clean and dirt free. Your dress was perfectly clean and as beautiful as the Moment you put it on. Shouldn't it be torn with dirt stains from all the falls you took? No. Your hair was still perfectly done up. Your make not smeared as if you had just put it on. Your dress without a wrinkle. Your body without a dirt stain. You looked just... Perfect. Just like this room. The only thing out of place on your body was the ring that still smeared a bit red with your blood droplets. ...That was really weird. Eventually Taylor evened his worried breathing. "Ok. Ok. You're right. But if he was able to put you to sleep then he's a lot stronger than we thought!" "Well if you're heading out then I'm coming in! I trust that guy as far as I can throw him which is t much considering he's a ghost." You rolled yours eyes. "In a mansion where you can get lost? Nah. I'll meet you out." "No, no, no! On second thought, stay where you are! We have no idea what the dude's up to!" "All the more reason to leave! Ugh. Look, Taylor. If he really wanted to hurt me he would've already done it by now instead of putting me in a nice bedroom. Just let me handle this. The last thing we need is for you barging in here and making him mad or worse you hurting yourself. Trust me on this. Ok?" There was silence for a moment before Taylor sighed. "Fine. But you are STAYING on the line with me and giving me status updates!" "Deal. But I am serious. When I get outta here we're gonna talk about what you did." Taylor grumbled but you paid it no mind as your hand grabbed the doorknob and turned. Luckily it wasn't locked and you opened it enough to just stick your head out. A long hallway greeted you. Lightning flashed lighting up both ends as you looked left and right.  "Ok. I'm definitely still in the mansion but I don't see any ghosts...And I think I'm on the second or third floor. I'm gonna try to find the stairs." "Alright. Be careful. What happened before you fainted anyways?" You slowly closed the door behind you, careful to not snag the floor length veil into the door. Also  careful to be very quiet closing it. Hopefully the thunder and lightning would muffle the creaking door. "It was pretty normal until it wasn't. Remember when we were joking about Ian?" "Yeah?" "Well something invisible grabbed my hand, and then the ground just started moving like those zombies in movies before they bust outta their graves!" "So Elias is a z-z-z-zombie!?," Taylor's voice sounded terrified all of a sudden. "No. He's not a zombie. He's definitely dead but he's not a even close to a zombie." Taylor sighed in relief. "He's a pure ectoplasmic ghost. But he sure gave me a scare." You looked behind you as more lightning lit up the building. Still nothing. "I dropped the rings Ian gave me and he took them.." you gave another glance at your hand. "Well one of them. Next thing I know he's talking to me, I faint, and then I wake up in a strange room." "You must've accidentally disturbed where he used to be buried or somehow summoned him." "Well I felt like I was being watched the entire time I was out there so I must've said something that made him come out." Taylor hummed. "Huh. I wonder what it was. If no one else was successful in getting him to show himself then you must've said something that caught his eye. Can you tell me what he said?" "Didn't you hear everything?" "Not everything. The connection kept swinging in and out. I only heard glimpses of you screaming and the some muffled static and a few words." "Well he asked me why I was here? I told him the truth that this was a ghost hunt. And he asked why I was wearing a wedding dress. I told him basically that I only wore it cuz of our common interest in tragic weddings." You curiously tried a nearby door reaching out to turn the doorknob and opening it to peer in. Nothing but an empty closet. You closed it. "Oh. He also thought I was proposing to him." "Hang on... WHAT?!" "Yeah. He thought I was proposing to him." You paused. "... Maybe that's why he took the rings and came out." "Hang on. I think you're skimming over the important details here! You proposed to a dead guy!" "No I didn't. He just thinks so." "Uh. THAT'S THE IMPORTANT PART!! Why aren't you more worried about this?!" "I don't even know if he's still in the mansion with me. For all I know he might've gone back to rest again. It won't matter if I get out of here anyways." You walked further down the hall. "And if you DO run into him?!" "Then I'll explain everything to him. Now stop yelling off my ear will you?" Taylor grumbled but he didn't yell anymore. You took the chance to walk further up the hallway before pausing again as a sound other than the thunder and wind outside entered your ears. It sounded like.. humming? Your brows rose and you slowly began to follow the source of it. Each slow step left your heels clicking softly and the floor slightly creaking. You followed it until reaching the end of the hallway and poked your head around. Still nothing but the humming was louder and it seemed to be coming from a particular room. Slowly your head retreated. "I think I found out where Elias went. It's really weird. This is all really weird. Is it possible I went back in time?" "No. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to communicate. Why?" "Because none of the house looks old anymore. It's not even cold. Seriously, does he have like a ghost maid or something that cleans up around here? For a party house it's not really wrecked." Again another pause. "If the house looks better is it because of Elias? The fact that it's not cold has to mean something. I think you've really awakened him." "Say what?" "Your presence has given him something he hasn't had in forever. I think this house confirms to his spectral energy. You've made him happy. You've satisfied part of his unfinished business for romance but..I would be careful with how the rest of those desires are filled." You stood there for a long moment. "So a ghost is happy because he thinks we're engaged. Yeah. Why not have this happen on Friday the Thirteenth?" Your sarcasm was not lost on Taylor who sighed. Curiously you peeked back around.. before slowly moving towards the door that the humming came from. Each click of your heels got you closer until you stood in front of the door left ajar. Slowly you moved the front of the veil from your face to lean forward and peek through the crack in the door. The room looked like an old study. A few sofas, a desk with an office chair, and a bookshelf on the far wall stuffed with books. And there in the middle of it all was Elias. The spook hummed in a absolute happy way, one arm holding a small stack of books while the other skimmed the shelves looking for something. Eventually he pulled out a book adding it to his stack before floating over to the coffee table and setting them down next to a teapot, teacup, and a plate of presumed snacks....Wait. Could a ghost even eat or drink? CRASH!! "AH!!" You squealed as the loudest crash of thunder yet sounded out causing you to jump forward pushing the door open and startling the ghost inside. You both froze staring at each other for a moment before a look of concern fell over Elias. "Oh, Y/n my dearest. Wait there." Oh no- Elias was quick to phase through the furniture and soon he was standing right in front of you looking working. "My dear, you mustn't wonder around. Things are still out of sorts." ...You blinked. "Really? The place looks clean to me." Taylor groaned in your ear but you ignored it. "And I woke up anyways. I couldn't just sit around and do nothing." "And here I thought I had been quiet as to not disturb your slumber. My sincerest apologies", Elias apologized profusely making you hold up your hands. "No it's fine. I woke up by myself." You watched as he cocked his floating head making it bob a bit more. You tried not to stare at the obvious place where his head was disconnected from his neck or the red staining his otherwise blue body. "And yet it doesn't excuse the unreadiness of this manor. After all I have to do all the cleaning myself. Look at the study. So far from its glory days." His eyes gave a look of distaste at the room. "Didn't you say the place looked clean?," Taylor asked confused in your ear. It's true the place looked better than most dorms you've seen. Either Elias was a perfectionist or you both were seeing two different versions of the manor. "I think it looks good." He offered a small huff and smile. "Just wait and be amazed. I will have to find new staff quite soon." He pondered holding up a hand to his chin. "Sadly they didn't stay behind as I left my body." He groaned closing his eyes. "Oh. If only they had." "Is he serious? Who'd work for a ghost in a moldy old manor?" You again ignored Taylor. "Well I'm sure you'll find some more eventually. You'll be able to really look around and..stuff." At this he shook his head and held up a finger. "On the contrary, arrangements must be made with all haste." "Arrangements? Arrangements for what? Staff interviews?" He smiled widely and happily. "Our wedding of course." Taylor choked on air through the earpiece as you just stood there staring at the smiling spook. .... What?! You guessed you couldn't blame Elias for wanting to have that fairytale wedding he never got to have after so long but- HOLY COW!! Taylor mumbled something in your ear and you totally agreed. "Whoa! Hang on there a moment!" Elias blinked as you held up your hands. "I think we're jumping the gun a bit here!" He slowly blinked. "Jumping the gun?...Is that a wedding tradition I haven't heard about? If you want that I can surely arrange it. I'm sure my father's musket is around here somewhere." "It's a figure of speech. It means you're moving too fast." You explained. His face regarded you before frowning. "But you're heart. I can hear it's tears fall upon your shattered soul. I promise you, my dearest, that a heart does not heal easily. No matter how many takes of tragedy and hardship one reads, reality is always more painful." Well you couldn't argue with that. A hand pressed over his chest where one's heart would be. "Why my heart has been broken more than a dozen times over the course of my life and alas it has never once healed. Only turned to an aching scar. And I have tried my damnedest to ignore those wounds. To let them bleed out and form into some semblance of strength, but it left me sickly instead. If a heart must be mended, then surgery must be immediate." You stared at him for a long moment because...Well that's EXACTLY how you felt after Ian stood you up at the alter. But ..still as much as it pulled at your heart strings, you couldn't just pretend that this whole thing was ok! You needed to sit him down and talk to him. "Do NOT trust him! AT ALL!!" Taylor's voice warned. "But don't do anything to upset him either. Play it cool." Ok..Got it. But you couldn't NOT tell him! It'd be cruel AND ridiculous! You couldn't get hitched to a ghost! You held up your hand to get his attention but paused as he smiled warmly and grabbed it in his own cold hands. "And here before you is someone who can mend your broken heart. Someone who can cherish you, stay with you, bring happiness to you. I never had that chance in my mortal life and after so long,  I want you to choose happiness not sorrow, My Dearest. And I want to be the one to give you that happiness." You fell silent for a moment just staring at his smiling face and despite yourself your face heated up a pink, although you sighed. "Elias, can I talk to you for about something?" He blinked. "Oh. Yes. Of course. Anything."  You gently removed your hand from his before slowly walking over and sitting down on one of the old sodas. These heels were killing you. You took a moment sighing in relief before looking at the slightly worried ghost. "Elias...Are you aware that I wasn't actually proposing to anyone?" Blunt but there really wasn't any point in beating around the bush. Immediately Elias looked shocked at your words. "But..your vows.." "Those vows were what my ex was supposed to say to me on our wedding," you explained the best way you could for him to understand. "I was upset about what he did and I was just..." You couldn't say joking around with your friend because Elias might interpret that as you mocking his situation. "*sigh* I was just acting out what I didn't get to have said to me." That was true, and it was the easiest way to explain it to him. "I dropped the rings when I tripped over my dress on accident." You gestured to the dress. "I wasn't actually expecting literally ANYONE to show up. Not you or anyone else." Elias fell silent as he stared at you with a neutral face. "But..I thought you were looking for me." "I was but not to propose, I wanted to see if there was any truth to the stories of this place," you explained further to him. "I just happened to be reminded of my own bad wedding while I was here and acted out because I was upset. I wouldn't have done it if I knew you would be disturbed and I am really sorry for that. That's why I wore the dress like I explained to you a few hours ago." Again Elias fell silent for a long moment seemingly in thought until he sighed and nodded. "I think I understand now." You sighed in relief. "Thank goodness. I thought you'd be angry at me." "Oh course not. After all, you were only acting out due to a broken heart and thus sought solace in someone of a similar situation. Nevertheless I shall not let this put a damper on the ceremony." "SAY WHAT?!" A glass shattering sound went off in your mind as Taylor yelled. "Wha- N-Now wait a second." You held up your hands. "Did you not understand anything about what I said? "Oh no. I understood you perfectly," he clarified holding up his own hand, "Nevertheless I accept what fate that has brought us poor souls together. Rest assured that I will not be like that snake who so carelessly spured your affections so carelessly and drove you to me." "Um..Elias, how long ago do you think I was stood up?" "Judging by your gown, I would think that you would've been spured less than a day ago." "Wrong. It happened over two years ago, so there's no need to worry about me." "Two years?!" He gasped a hand clutching his chest. "Well it's not a wonder you came here. Surely it has not been as long as my heart has endured but two years of festering sorrow is too much to wait." Taylor groaned and you fought the urge to facepalm yourself. "Elias, that's also more than enough time for someone to move on. You never forget but you can find happiness some other way." You tried to be gentle to his worried puppy eyes. "Like focusing on yourself and trying new things. Putting yourself first and spending time with the people who matter the most!" You smiled widely at him. "Have you ever thought about doing that? You must meet lots of people coming through here." Sheepishly he looked away. "I..Have thought such things, but when you are in my situation.." he looked down at himself with a frown. "Your options are very limited, and no one has shown me the kindness you have. Even if your proposal was accidental, I still accept it with honor." "Well.." He really wasn't getting it was he? "Even if you did, surely we can't be married. There's not a ceremony." He smiled again. "Fear not! I shall arrange everything we need." "Well surely it's not a binding one. There's no one to do the rites!" "And remember the famous lines! 'Til death do you part!'," Taylor added quickly, "He's a ghost! Death has already parted you both!" "And death has already parted this!", you added quickly with Taylor's point. "I'm afraid this wouldn't be any good even if we do have a ceremony." Instead of getting upset he only smiled at you wider. "On the contrary, our pact holds truer than most engagements." As if to make a point, he presented his hand where the ring still sat on his own hand where one would expect a man to wear a wedding ring. It shined golden with minor red smears. "Our vows are sealed in blood. All we're lacking is the proper ceremony. But first I must make the proper preparations. Like the cake. My grandmother's recipes are still somewhere in the manor. I remember eating them when alive and adoring them. Then there's the flowers. Unfortunately you seemed to have lost yours, so I'll supply that as well" he held up his hands to you in a gesture of comfort. "Your energy is still exhausted, so you must rest a little bit longer. Please wait here for a moment and I'll get you something." Before you could say anything, Elias literally sank through the floor and a second later he was gone leaving you alone. After the stunned silence Taylor spoke again. "Y/n...Why did he say that your vows were sealed in blood?" "I have no idea! I didn't give him any blood if that's what you're thinking!" "Wait. Didn't you say that you got a papercut or something?" "Yeah. One of the roses you got me pricked my finger. Why?" There was silence for a moment before Taylor sounded VERY nervous. "Y/n, PLEASE tell me you didn't touch him with a bloodied hand!" "What? No! Why?" "Because I think you accidentally made a big magical mistake." You paused. "What are you talking about?" Taylor groaned before sighing. "Ok, ok! Do you remember how in ancient history people would make blood sacrifices to appease deities? Or how people refer to close friends as 'blood brothers' or something?" "What are you getting at?" "UGH! I'm saying that blood is used in a lot of supernatural or magical properties. Look at vampires for a prime example!" "Elias isn't a vampire, Taylor." "The point is!! That I think you inadvertently made a soft of pact with him by accident. Not in the demon like sense, but a marriage is still a pact, just in a different and more intimate way." You froze. "...No." "Yes! You made those vows and drew blood, and offered it even if it wasn't directed at Elias. He accepted it and now...I think we're in a lot more trouble than I thought." You didn't say anything about it but yelled out and slammed a fist on the soft sofa cushion harmlessly. "Well now what are we gonna do?!" There was a moment of silence before Taylor spoke again. "Maybe we can convince him to move on." "What?" "Elias is still around because he never got to experience what he's always wanted, which was to be married. Right? Even if the ceremony isn't legal or has any standing, maybe holding a fake ceremony will bring closure to him and allow him to move on finally. If he moves on then, the contract breaks and you're scot free." "And if it doesn't?" "....I dunno. We'll think of something. Right now it's the only thing I can think of."
